Superbly swept away October 1st 2009 Motherwell College in
Lanarkshire has relocated to a
new £70m, 200,000ft2 facility on
the old Ravenscraig site. ISS has
held the full facilities contract at
the college since 1996.The
range of services extends from
cleaning, janitorial, caretaking, 24
hr security and driving duties.
George Lawson, operations
manager for ISS, acquired the
new Nilfisk RS502 road sweeper
to cope with all outdoor hard
surface areas including
pavements.The sweeper is used
by both day and night staff
primarily to control litter.
The diesel powered RS502
vacuumated sweeper even picks
up full coke cans and bricks.The
pressure washer facility on
board is used to clean bin areas
and remove chewing gum and
graffiti from hard surfaces.
With a sweeping width of
1600mm, the RS502 operates
over high kerbs up to 15cm onto
pavements and manoeuvres
easily around shelters.The
machine is fitted with a powerful
40.8HP 4 cylinder engine and
has a climbing ability of 22%.
A flashing beacon and reverse
warning beeper eliminate any
potential health and safety risk
for students.The RS502 also has
a salt spreader accessory.The
RS502 comes complete with an
all inclusive service contract
covering planned maintenance,
parts and breakdown visits.
