Get to grips with flooring
October 1st 2009

Grip Rock, a new safety matting for kitchen frying areas and potentially dangerous floors has achieved an R13 rating on the DIN51130 standard – the highest rating possible with slip resistance in excess of a 35 degree angle.

Introduced by Plastic Extruders,Grip Rock is suitable for preparation areas where oils, spillage and dropped food make safety underfoot vital.

Three layers include a tough, durable wearing surface made with ceramic and crushed garnet beads, a fibreglass interlayer to provide strength and a polyurethane backing which grips the floor and restricts creep. The low 3mm profile reduces the risk of tripping, will fit under kitchen equipment and allow trolleys to traverse easily.

In the catering industry, slips account for about 86% of the total slips and trips injuries and in 90% of cases the floor was wet or greasy. The matting is available in 12m x 91cm rolls and 1.5m x 91cm modules.
