Conveyor belt cleaning
October 1st 2004

Contrary to many peoples first thought there is no easy ‘one size fits all’ solution to Conveyor Cleaning systems and a level of engineering and design input must be applied to every installation. There are many variations of belts types and conveyor structures and also the design must reflect the needs of the customer. For example some operators wish to continuously clean during production, requiring a permanently mounted installation while others need a portable system for use during down time cleaning or between product changeovers.

The patented Steambrush from Duplex system uses a standard principle, capable of easy adaptation.

Combining steam and brush agitation it is available in standard sizes up to 1.2 metres and bespoke solutions for belts over that size.

An example of a bespoke solution is the supply of a 1.4 metre head where Duplex worked with Coates Engineering who incorporated a Steambrush head into the design and supply of a new conveyor they built and installed for Manor Bakeries in Southampton.

Companies using the Steambrush system include Ginsters,Cereal Partners and Cadburys. In addition to installations in the UK and Eire the system has been supplied and installed through distributors in France,Germany,Holland, Italy, Canada and the USA.

While designed primarily for use with the Steamtech (8 -15kW) models and the newly launched Steambox (21/28kW) range of steam generators the Steambrush system can also be used where other types steam generator or supply are already available, such as an in-house steam supply.
