Lanes for Drains sign for Rovers
April 1st 2007

When a blocked drain at Blackburn Rovers' Ewood Park stadium almost ruined a match, the club were prompted to sign a different kind of contract – this time for drainage maintenance.

"Just a few days before a home fixture last season, the main storm water drain at the front of the stadium backed up and was threatening to flood the ground's public facilities," recalls stadium manager John Newsham.

"Obviously we needed help, and fast. We couldn't risk the match being called off." John decided to give Lanes for Drains a trial and an emergency unblock team from its Preston depot located the blockage, zapping it with one of Lanes' jet vac machines.

Lanes suggested a programme of three monthly visits to ensure it does not happen again, and have been signed on a four year contract.
