First choice for Boots October 1st 2005 Cannon Hygiene has renewed its hygiene services contract with the Boots Company to service all Boots stores, around 1400, its head office, manufacturing and Warehousing complex in Nottingham and its regional Logistics operations across the UK. The washroom hygiene specialist has also extended its service to Boots stores to include the disposal of clinical and pharmaceutical waste
By providing highly efficient services Cannon Hygiene and Boots have built a strong and confident relationship over the past eight years. Three years ago, at contract renewal, the companies worked together to restructure the service to reduce administration and pass all day-to-day management responsibilities to Cannon Hygiene.
Managing director of Cannon, Oliver Weisflog, said: "This latest contract renewal is fantastic news for the Cannon team. Extending the contract to include the removal of all hard and soft clinical waste, including sharps and contaminated needles and the waste from Boots' cholesterol testing service, demonstrates how our strong relationship is still growing.
"I am confident that Cannon will continue to provide safe and hygienic disposal services to Boots, building on the trust gained over the years, with our dedicated management team in place."
The new contract will include the provision of the Cannon Concept range, which has already proved very popular with Boots. This tailored range features a compact clinical unit, specifically designed by Cannon's research and development team, to be used for the disposal of cholesterol testing kits - a service that has recently been introduced in Boots stores across the country.
Sanitary and nappy units are also being provided, with all units incorporating instructions in Braille.
Ian Barnes, Boots Sustainable Development Manager for Waste Minimisation, said: "We were very impressed with Cannons attitude and ability in developing bespoke disposal units for the disposal of our used cholesterol testing kits and the way the whole team were receptive to exploring new ideas.
"It was also important to provide our 600 baby changing rooms with nappy units which our visually impaired customers could easily identify. Over the last 8 years we have worked with Cannon on a partnership basis and believe that both Cannon and Boots will benefit from this as pharmacies offer expanding services and Waste legislation becomes more complex."
