Beating dust beats asthma
June 1st 2006

Rainbow Cleaning, based in Camberwell, South London has been praised for work carried out as part of a 2 part television documentary called 'How to beat your kids asthma' as part of the Dispatches series in April.

Filming took place in November and consisted of deep cleaning and steaming of soft furnishings in 12 homes in and around North London for the parents of children who suffered from acute asthma.

The Channel 4 programme focused on the affects of various allergens and in particular, house dust mites' ability to exacerbate symptoms. Doctors and heath care professionals proved that by replacing carpets with laminated floors and curtains with blinds – and most importantly, keeping to a strict cleaning regime – the children's'symptoms could be greatly reduced.

Richard Lee, sales director for Rainbow Cleaning (above) said: "We were invited to specially clean the homes of these children, and in particular to remove dust particulates and potentially hazardous air borne spores produced by mould and dust mites.

As a long term sufferer of asthma myself, this was an exciting opportunity to prove, first hand, what benefits could be achieved for these children by introducing a rigorous cleaning regime. I am proud to say that the first night the children slept in their new bedrooms they showed showing significant signs of improvement.
