Environmental awareness December 1st 2009 A radical recycling scheme at
Cambridge's Hinxton Hall helped
Strand to win
the Johnson
Diversey
Environmental
Awareness
Award.
"In 2008 we
introduced the
recycling programme and
significantly reduced the volume
of waste going to landfill," says
Jim Melvin, Strand MD.Around
68% of non-specialist waste
produced went to landfill in 2007.
After waste separation and
recycling incentives introduced
by Strand in 2008,
"only 48% of the
non-specialist
waste produced
went to landfill,"
says Melvin.
"This is 19%
below the national
average for businesses."
Projections for 2009 are that a
further 12% of waste will be
saved from landfill. More articles from OCS Group UK Ltd: |
