Broadwood's Snow gritter ensures facilities management company Cresswell keeps Woking Borough Councils's car parks free of snow and ice

Broadwood International says its SnowEx SP-575 salt and sand spreader is proving indispensable to cleaning and facilities management company, Cresswell, in keeping Woking Borough Council's car parks free of snow and ice.The Snowex was purchased by Cresswell last year after winning a five-year contract from the Council to service all its Woking car parks. The SnowEx SP-575 spreader is mounted on a trailer chassis, and last winter was in use de-icing the Council's 11 surface and five multi-storey car parks.

When required, the SnowEx spreader is coupled on to one of Cresswell's Renault Trafic vans and is immediately ready for use. When gritting has been completed, the SnowEx spreader is removed, and the vehicle returns to its normal duties.

"We took over the contract on the 29th January and it began snowing on the 28th," says David McLeod, MD of Cresswell Services.

"The SnowEx does what it says on the tin. It is a great saver in manpower and materials as the grit is spread evenly with excellent spread density and area.We can also use the SnowEx with other materials such as urea prills granules." The low-maintenance direct-drive system requires no belts, pulleys or chains.A dual 12- volt DC motor combines maximum torque transmission with reliability, and as with the full SnowEx range of spreaders, the SP-575 can be attached to any vehicle with a 12-volt supply.

With its polypropylene non-corrosive hopper, the company says SnowEx is a far lighter weight than comparable steel-hopper spreaders. This means that the SnowEx is easily installed and removed, freeing the vehicle to perform multiple applications.

SnowEx spreaders enable councils and sub-contractors to provide the public with ice-free walkways and car parks for minimal outlay.

The in-cabin controller enables safe, on-the-move adjustment of spreading width and application rates. A standard two year warranty can be extended to five if required.

Contact the company for details.
