Welcome to the June e-news from Cleaning Matters.
People working in the Cleaning Industry have insider knowledge. Does this explain fears in daily life over how clean public environments are? Last month's poll showed that the main area of concern in readers' daily lives is Hospital Hygiene at 35%. It seems ironic that the environment we enter to be cured is the one we fear the most. But headlines about MRSA and the risks of cross-contamination are too frequent to be ignored.
It seems we are also worried when we are supposed to be enjoying ourselves. Second in the poll about cleanliness concerns is Food Preparation Areas with 33% of votes. I can imagine many CM readers sitting in restaurants inspecting cutlery and keeping a beady eye on what kind of cloth is being used to wipe tables, when they dare to venture out that is!
If the Cleaning Industry is worried about these areas, then there really is a lot more to be done. Innovation in products, training in correct procedures and UK-wide standards are ways in which cleaning can excel and allay some of those fears. The industry needs determined minds who, when they come across a problem, have the will to solve it. There is no time to rest on any laurels, everyone must keep striving.
All the best
