Welcome to the October e-news from Cleaning Matters.
It's often said that a person makes up their mind whether they like you within a matter of seconds, whether it be a job interview or a first date. Well according to our last month's poll, the personal relationship a company has with its supplier is more important than the product. It seems that within the cleaning industry camaradie and respect overide innovation. This could be seen as a positive in that trust and loyalty are obviously valued, but at the same time if there is a better product on the market it seems a shame not to make the most of it. And in these changeable economic times, like certain politicians, it seems some of you in the business are not averse to accepting the odd perk no matter who or what you're dealing with.
Business aside, the focus in the industry now seems to be on skills. The UK team of young people at EuroSkills was miles ahead of the competition with golds all round in the cleaning section of the event. And the government is asking for more people in the industry to teach cleaning and for employees to gain professional qualifications. Is cleaning finally getting the status it deserves? Let's hope so.
